Brass tools

Brass is the most common material in the manufacture of flat stamps. Flat brass plates are used in the graphics and cosmetic industries. The brass stamps are engraved and can be reproduced identically at any time. Brass plates are particularly environmentally friendly because the material can be very easily recycled. Flat brass plates are mainly used in the areas of commercial printing, corporate stationery, book covers and chocolate packaging.

Brass is used as a material for different tools:

  • Flat embossing
  • Relief cut
  • Structural embossing
  • Blind embossing
  • Cylinders and round segments made of brass
  • Brass types
  • Mould-adapted brass stamps

Flat embossing

Surfaces, inscriptions and finest ornaments are embossed. The raised part of the stamp transfers the foil to the printing material. Flat embossing is suitable for all types of paper and cardboard as well as for book-binding materials and laminated printing material or cosmetic items.

Relief cut

In the case of relief cuts, hot foil embossing and forming of the printing material three-dimensionally are carried out by means of a patrix at predetermined points in the same process. The relief depth depends on the grammage and thickness of the printing material. There are single-tier, multi-tier and plastic reliefs. The reliefs can be raised or recessed. Relief cuts are suitable for paper and cardboard and are used for high-quality packaging or greeting cards.

Structural embossing

With structural embossing, a structure is engraved on the embossing surface of the brass. The result is optical as well as haptical forming. A structure like this can be engraved with a relief cut or with blind embossing. A patrix is required. Structural embossing is suitable for paper and cardboard and is used for high-quality invitations or greeting cards.

Blind embossing

Blind embossing is carried out without any foils at all.The printing material is formed raised or recessed.
Blind embossing is single-tier, multi-tier and plastic.
The grammage and thickness of the printing material influence the result of blind embossing. This type of refinement is used for business equipment and high-quality invitation cards.

Cylinder and round segments made of brass

Brass cylinders can be engraved 360° all round and are used on label machines.
Round segments are used in the graphics industry, for example with cosmetic tubes or screw caps. The "round against round" printing process enables high speeds and the finest embossing on paper, cardboard, label materials, plastic screw caps and tubes.

Brass types

Brass stamping types are small stamps for product identification. Batch names, manufacturer coding and expiry dates are stamped flexibly in this way. If changes are requested, the types used can be exchanged. Logos can be embossed with larger embossing types. Brass types are less expensive than steel types.

Mould-adapted brass stamp

Mould-adapted brass stamps are exactly adapted to the shape of the plastic material to be embossed.
The shape can be convex, concave or free form. These tools are mainly manufactured for the cosmetics industry or for white goods. Depending on the project, we decide together with the client whether brass or silicone stamps are more suitable.
